Virtual Reality Training

Vertical Divider

What is Virtual Reality?

Virtual Reality (VR) is a technology which allows to experience and interact with an environment that doesn't exist in an astounding realistic way. Unlike other traditional interfaces, the 3D experience, sound effects and even touch simulation place the user inside an immersive and believable experience and let him be an integrated part and major actor of this experience.

How does the APDRC use it ?

The APDRC use Virtual Reality tools to train people and raise general public awareness on disaster risks and make them learn, through disaster simulations, what are the proper emergency reactions and the step by step guidelines in each situation. Through different developed games, the users have the possibility to immerse themselves into different emergency situations and have to escape from there safely.

What opportunities does it offer?

Being able to learn how to handle a disaster situation while staying in a safe environment is what the Virtual Reality can offer. This method completely modernize theorical learning and provides, in addition, a practical dimension and realistic scenarios that make the understanding and learning easier and more efficient.

 3 Different Scenarios

Escape from the Cruise Ship

Storyline: Imagine being on a cruise trip and suddenly hearing the emergency alarm saying that the ship is sinking. What are you going to do? How are you going to escape safely?...
Watch our Escape from the Cruise Ship video and have a small foretaste of the VR experience!

Fire Theater

Storyline: A sudden fire starts while you're comfortably sitting on your seat in the theater. Do you know how to protect yourself from the smoke? What actions to take?...
Watch our Fire Theater video and have a small foretaste of the VR experience!

Earthquake Preparedness

Storyline: While you were relaxing at home, there was a sudden earthquake and subsequent house fire caused by an earthquake.
What are the correct steps to survive a disaster? Learn from VR Earthquake!

Development

The APDRC sent its VR equipment and shared its knowledge with 6 other National Societies that will experience VR tools and fill monthly reports. The gathering of all the information will be a valuable support for us and will help us improve our programmes and use of this technology.

Learn life saving guidelines and safety tips

Through theoretical lessons and educational videos viewing, we aim to raise people awareness and give them tools to understand the basic guidelines to follow in case of an emergency situation.
